About Playa ses Covetes

The Vibe

The village has only a few streets, so the beach experience feels concentrated around the available entrances, restaurants and sandy pockets. Summer mornings can be busy because parking and usable sand are limited, yet the atmosphere remains more informal than at a purpose-built resort. Later in the day, walkers often continue along the coast towards Sa Rapita or Es Trenc.

The open southern exposure matters. Water over the low rock at the edges can become awkward when wind pushes waves directly ashore, even while the central sand still looks inviting. Barefoot exploration is comfortable on the main beach, but shoes are useful for anyone moving between the smaller coves or following the rocky waterline.

The Setting

About

Ses Covetes is a small seaside settlement between Sa Rapita and Es Trenc, with sandy bathing areas tucked into a low coast of dunes and rock. Its scale is intimate, but its position beside one of Mallorca's most important protected shorelines gives it a much wider natural setting.

The Local Anchor

Ses Covetes sits on the edge of the Es Trenc-Salobrar de Campos protected landscape. Behind the coast, dunes and salt-tolerant vegetation lead towards the Salobrar wetlands, where shallow water, salt pans and seasonal birdlife create a sharp contrast with the beach.

Campos is the inland municipal centre, known for its agricultural plain and traditional weekly market. The route from town to the sea crosses fields and low farm buildings before reaching the bright coastal strip, reinforcing the sense that Ses Covetes is a small opening onto a much larger rural landscape.

The Landscape

Fine pale sand alternates with low sandstone ledges, while dune grasses, juniper and pine occupy the ground behind the shore. There is no continuous promenade and no high-rise wall along the water. The built settlement appears in short sections rather than dominating the whole view.

The beach is best understood as a hinge between Sa Rapita and Es Trenc. Eastward lies the marina village; westward the coast becomes increasingly dune-backed and undeveloped. That position gives Ses Covetes both its popularity and its fragile, highly distinctive character.
