Playa Regla

Regla is lively, sociable and regularly used throughout the entire year. Families gather near the central accesses, walkers follow the promenade and summer visitors move easily between the sand, restaurants and town streets. The beach has enough length to absorb busy periods, although the sections nearest the sanctuary are the most popular.

Atlantic tides reveal and cover rocky platforms along parts of the shore. These changing conditions affect the shape of the beach and the location of safer sandy entries. The western orientation brings evening light across the water, and sunset often extends activity on the promenade.

Playa de Regla is Chipiona's best-known urban beach, extending beside the Santuario de Nuestra Senora de Regla and the long seafront promenade. Its golden sand, accessible town-centre position and views towards the lighthouse make it a practical family beach with a strong connection to local history.

The Santuario de Nuestra Senora de Regla stands immediately behind the beach and gives the shore its name. The sanctuary is one of Chipiona's principal religious landmarks and becomes especially important during the September celebrations dedicated to the town's patron.

Chipiona Lighthouse rises farther north along the coast and remains visible from much of the beach. The town is also known for Moscatel wine, fishing traditions and the historic stone fish traps known as corrales, which are exposed by the tide along suitable sections of shoreline.

Golden sand runs below a developed promenade, with low and mid-rise town buildings behind. Rocky intertidal areas interrupt the sandy waterline, while the lighthouse and sanctuary provide clear landmarks at different points along the coast.

The beach faces west and southwest towards a broad Atlantic horizon near the mouth of the Guadalquivir. On clear evenings, the combination of pale buildings, wet sand and the lighthouse creates a distinctly Chipiona scene. Regla is fully urban, but its tidal rocks and major landmarks prevent it from feeling like a generic resort frontage.
