About Playa de Les Salines

The Vibe

The beach feels relaxed and local. Families, residents and visitors staying in the western neighbourhoods use the sand, while its position away from the busiest central promenade creates more breathing room. It suits a beach day, coastal walk or evening beside the water.

The curved shoreline can appear sheltered, yet wind and swell still enter between the breakwaters. Swimmers should follow flags and keep away from rocks, where currents and wave rebound may be stronger. After storms, the beach profile and water entry can change noticeably.

Les Salines is not a remote natural beach. Homes, paths and seasonal services remain close, but the generous sky and open sea preserve a strong coastal feeling.

The Setting

About

Les Salines is a broad beach on the western side of Cubelles, positioned between Les Gavines and Mota de Sant Pere. Golden sand, a residential backdrop and a shoreline shaped by breakwaters give it a calmer visual character than a completely open Mediterranean strand.

The Local Anchor

Cubelles provides the local context, with its old centre set inland from the modern beachfront. The church of Santa Maria, castle area and Charlie Rivel museum give the town a cultural identity beyond summer tourism.

The nearby River Foix and its coastal wetland are important natural anchors. The river mouth lies farther east and supports birdlife, reeds and changing sandbanks. Visitors exploring the wider coast should avoid disturbing wildlife and should not treat the river channel as a bathing area.

The Landscape

Les Salines forms a broad sandy compartment between coastal defences. The surrounding land is flat, with residential development and planted margins behind the beach rather than dunes, cliffs or high headlands.

The sea faces southeast, producing bright morning light and long reflections on calmer days. Lower water expands the firm edge of the beach, while higher water makes the curved shape more pronounced. Breakwaters create contrasting zones of smooth and choppy water depending on wind direction.

Looking west leads towards Les Gavines and Cunit; eastward, the beach connects with Mota de Sant Pere and the central Cubelles shore. Les Salines is defined by continuity, forming one calm-looking chapter in a long urban coastline rather than a separate hidden cove.
