About Playa Cala Ferrera
The atmosphere is cheerful and resort-focused, with swimmers, children, paddle craft and hotel guests moving constantly between beach and nearby streets. The cove is small enough for activity on one side to be noticed everywhere, so early morning offers a very different experience from the busy middle of the day.
Rock shelves line both edges and the mouth is narrower than the bay behind it. Snorkellers who drift towards the entrance can suddenly meet stronger movement and the routes used by small boats. Turning back while the water remains smooth is more comfortable than trying to round either rocky point.

The Setting
Cala Ferrera is a narrow sandy cove on the Felanitx side of the Cala d'Or resort area, enclosed by pale limestone, pines and low-rise holiday buildings. Its compact beach and calm-looking water make it popular with families, though summer demand can quickly fill the available sand.
Cala Ferrera belongs to Felanitx, although the whitewashed streets of Cala d'Or continue a short distance south within neighbouring Santanyi. That municipal boundary is almost invisible to visitors but helps explain why nearby coves with a shared resort identity are managed separately.
The inland village of s'Horta provides a quieter local centre among farmland, while Portocolom lies along the coast to the north. A short promenade links the beach with Cala Serena and nearby resort streets. These places connect Cala Ferrera with the rural and maritime life of southeast Mallorca beyond the hotel zone.
Fine sand occupies the head of a steep-sided inlet, with pine, landscaped gardens and cream-coloured buildings above the rock. The small Farallo de Cala Ferrera islet sits near the mouth and gives the outward view a recognisable focal point.
The bay's beauty comes from enclosure: bright water held between limestone walls, with only a narrow opening towards the Mediterranean. Development is present on both sides, yet low building heights and mature vegetation prevent the cove from losing its characteristic eastern Mallorca form.
