About Playa el Alamillo
El Alamillo feels spacious, relaxed and strongly residential. Families and walkers use the recognised access points, anglers choose the less crowded sections and visitors from nearby apartments spread along a long frontage. The beach remains active in summer without developing the intensity of the central port.
The surface combines sand, gravel and occasional stones. The open aspect allows wind and waves to become more noticeable than inside the sheltered-looking harbour bay. Seasonal rescue services and accessible entrances support bathing, while quieter sections offer fewer nearby facilities.

The Setting
Playa El Alamillo lies northeast of Puerto de Mazarron's centre along a long residential shoreline facing the open Mediterranean. Its golden-grey sand and gravel, low seafront development and broad views make it a quieter alternative to the compact beaches beside the harbour.
The Alamillo residential district provides the immediate reference through its low apartments, homes and coastal road. Puerto de Mazarron's harbour and town services lie southwest, while Playa del Mojon and the Cartagena boundary approach northeast.
The wider area reflects Mazarron's maritime and mining history. Restaurants and chiringuitos serve fish, rice and seafood, while walking routes along the seafront connect residential sections with the port.
Golden-grey sand and gravel extend below palms, low buildings, open plots and dry slopes. The shoreline is long and relatively straight, creating broad views towards the headlands at both ends.
Southwest, the urban skyline and harbour become more prominent. Northeast, development thins towards Playa del Mojon and Isla Plana beyond. The Mediterranean remains visually dominant. El Alamillo is defined by exposure and length: a lightly developed residential beach between Puerto de Mazarron's busy waterfront and the quieter coast towards Cartagena. The long waterline is especially useful for early walking and running, when the open beach is cooler and quieter. Several access points divide the shore into sections with slightly different widths, surfaces and levels of nearby service. The residential road provides practical access along much of the beach.
