About Playa del Mojon

The Vibe

El Mojon feels spacious, quiet and removed from Puerto de Mazarron's central activity. Walkers, anglers and families use the broad shore, while the limited commercial development keeps the atmosphere simple. Summer brings more visitors around recognised accesses, but the beach's length leaves room beyond them.

The open Mediterranean frontage receives wind and moderate waves. Sand may mix with gravel and natural deposits, while the profile can change after storms. Seasonal facilities are less extensive than at Rihuete or Bahia, so visitors benefit from carrying water, shade and anything needed for a longer stay.

The Setting

About Playa del Mojon

Playa del Mojon occupies the northeastern edge of Mazarron municipality near the boundary with Cartagena. Its broad grey-golden sand, low dry headland and lightly developed surroundings create an open beach between El Alamillo and the Isla Plana coast.

The Local Anchor

The low Cabezo del Mojon and municipal boundary provide the strongest geographical references. El Alamillo lies southwest within Mazarron, while Isla Plana and Cartagena's western beaches begin beyond the northeastern edge.

Puerto de Mazarron's harbour and services remain a short journey away. The surrounding coast is residential in places but still includes dry scrub, open plots and rocky transitions that prevent it from feeling like one continuous resort.

The Landscape

Grey-golden sand extends beneath a broad Mediterranean horizon, backed by low hills, scattered buildings, coastal road access and sparse vegetation. The shore is wide and open, with no formal urban promenade along its full length.

Southwest, development increases towards El Alamillo and the port. Northeast, the coastline bends towards Isla Plana beneath steeper hills. Playa del Mojon is defined by its edge position: broad sand, municipal boundary and open water marking the gradual transition from Mazarron's resort coast to western Cartagena. The beach also provides long views back towards Puerto de Mazarron and forward towards the steeper Cartagena coast. Its open setting makes early morning and late afternoon more comfortable than the fully exposed middle of the day. Natural shade is very limited.
