Playa la Chapineta

La Chapineta feels relaxed, local and closely tied to village life. Families and regular swimmers use the recognised sections, walkers follow the seafront towards San Gines and small boats appear offshore. The beach remains sociable in summer without the density of La Manga's apartment-lined shores.

The surface combines golden sand with gravel, and footwear can be useful near coarser sections. The bay often appears calm, although Mediterranean wind and waves still vary. Seasonal supervision, accessible facilities and nearby food businesses support an uncomplicated beach day.

Playa La Chapineta lies on Cartagena's western coast within La Azohia, between San Gines and the village waterfront beneath Cabo Tinoso. Its golden sand-and-gravel shore, promenade and clear-looking water create a quiet urban beach backed by low homes and steep dry hills.

La Azohia provides the immediate centre through its fishing tradition, low houses and waterfront restaurants. The Torre de Santa Elena rises above the village and offers the strongest historical landmark, recalling the watch system used to monitor this exposed coast.

Cabo Tinoso dominates the wider eastern skyline, while Isla Plana lies west along the same shoreline. The seafront route links La Chapineta with San Gines, allowing visitors to experience several village beach sections without returning to the main road.

Golden sand and gravel form a narrow, extended shore beneath palms, promenade paving, low buildings and the steep slopes of the coastal mountains. The water changes from pale turquoise near land to deeper blue farther out.

Eastward, the coast rises towards Cabo Tinoso and the tower above La Azohia. Westward, San Gines and Isla Plana continue towards Mazarron. La Chapineta is defined by continuity and relief: village, promenade, clear water and dry mountain backdrop compressed along a narrow western Cartagena coastline. The beach is roughly seven hundred metres long, giving the village enough space for separate swimming, walking and small-boat sections. Evening light reaches the shore from the west and gives the mountain-backed coast a particularly calm appearance.
