About Playa o Porto do Ancoradoiro - Larino
Ancoradoiro feels broad, airy and strongly shaped by the ocean. The sound of swell, movement of cloud and direction of the wind are part of the experience, even on a bright summer day. Visitors come for space rather than a busy promenade atmosphere. The beach can feel wonderfully open, but its Atlantic exposure means conditions deserve attention before swimming or entering the water. Outside peak periods, long stretches of sand may feel quiet enough for an uninterrupted walk beside the surf.

The Setting
Playa O Porto do Ancoradoiro, near Larino, is one of the most natural and open-feeling beaches in the Muros municipality. It lies beyond Monte Louro, where the sheltered character of the ria gives way to a more exposed Atlantic coastline. A long sandy shore, nearby pinewoods and a relatively undeveloped backdrop give the beach a spacious character. It is particularly rewarding for walking, watching the sea and experiencing the western edge of the Muros coast.
Larino and Louro form the nearest local references, while Muros provides the larger historic and maritime centre. This section of coast also connects naturally with the lighthouse at Larino, Monte Louro and the protected landscape around Lagoa das Xarfas. Small villages, pinewoods and rural roads keep the area grounded in everyday coastal Galicia. A beach visit is easily combined with a drive through Louro or a stop in Muros for its old quarter, harbour and waterfront.
The beach is framed by sand, dunes, pine and low rocky headlands. Its western orientation produces a much more open horizon than the inner-ria beaches farther east. Behind the shore, vegetation softens the transition from sand to the surrounding land, while the Larino lighthouse provides a recognisable landmark along the coast. Nearby, Area Maior and the Louro lagoon add wetlands and dune scenery to the same coastal sequence. Ancoradoiro stands out for the way it combines a substantial beach with an undeveloped Atlantic setting. The beach's scale also makes it a useful place for appreciating how quickly light and weather move across Galicia's western coast.
