Playa Raeiros - Paxareiro

The atmosphere is spacious and active without feeling urban. Summer brings families, swimmers and people staying at nearby campsites or holiday accommodation, yet the length of the beach helps distribute the crowds. The open setting means wind and waves can be more noticeable than in a protected cove, so the day's conditions should guide swimming plans. On calmer mornings, the fine sand and long waterline are ideal for a beach walk, while breezier periods give the shore a more energetic Atlantic character.

Raeiros-Paxareiro is a long fine-sand beach in the San Vicente do Grove parish of O Grove, close to the southern end of A Lanzada. At roughly 670 metres, it provides considerably more space than the small coves farther around the peninsula. The beach is open to the sea but benefits from an orientation that can reduce the effect of prevailing winds. It suits visitors who want a broad sandy shore, room for walking and a less enclosed setting than the beaches around Pedras Negras.

A Lanzada is the strongest nearby reference point, both as a landscape and as one of Galicia's best-known long beaches. Raeiros sits close enough to share the area's broad coastal outlook while maintaining its own identity. O Grove town offers the peninsula's main harbour, seafood restaurants and everyday services, while San Vicente do Mar lies farther west with its marina and coastal walk. This position makes Raeiros a practical base for exploring both the exposed outer shore and the more intricate western coves.

A straight, pale stretch of sand runs beside a low, largely rural backdrop. The horizon feels broader here than around the rocky coves of San Vicente, and the scale of neighbouring A Lanzada reinforces the sense of an open coastal corridor. Dunes, coastal vegetation and scattered development sit behind the beach, while the tide creates a wide walking surface at lower water. Raeiros is defined by breadth and continuity: a long beach in a part of O Grove where the peninsula opens towards the Atlantic rather than folding into small inlets.
