Playa a Torre

The atmosphere is open, leisurely and more rural than Tanxil. A Torre is linked to an established recreation area and coastal walking routes, making it suitable for visitors who want to combine beach time with an easy exploration of the shoreline. The sheltered ria setting generally reduces the drama of Atlantic surf, but the tide has a strong influence on the waterline and the amount of exposed sand.

There is a sense of transition here: the beach looks toward Rianxo, yet it also opens into the quieter estuarine landscape around Taragona. That balance gives A Torre a broad appeal, from family outings to walkers interested in the river mouth, woodland edges and maritime views.

A Torre is a sheltered fine-sand beach in the municipality of Rianxo, positioned at approximately 42.6652 north and -8.8166 west. It lies north of Rianxo town near the mouth of the River Te and the Taragona coastal area. Official tourism information highlights views toward Rianxo and places the beach on the maritime-fluvial Route of the Sea of Arousa and River Ulla.

The Castle of the Moon, or Castelo da Lua, is the most distinctive nearby landmark. Its remains stand close to the mouth of the River Te, a short distance from the beach, and form part of Rianxo's coastal heritage routes. The municipality has also used A Torre as a starting point for walks along the Taragona shore, passing the old industrial chimney, small coves and views toward the Beluso estuary.

Rianxo town remains visible across the water and provides the wider cultural anchor, with its harbour, literary heritage and working relationship with the ria.

Fine sand occupies a sheltered indentation on the northern side of the local bay. Low woodland, recreation ground and traces of former maritime industry create a varied landward edge. The River Te and surrounding inlets add channels and mudflats to the wider scene, especially at low tide. Across the water, Rianxo's waterfront forms a clear focal point. Rather than one empty sea horizon, A Torre offers a layered estuary landscape shaped by river, tide, settlement and green Barbanza slopes.
