Playa o Prado

O Prado feels relaxed and practical. The bay shape can give the water a quieter appearance than the beaches facing directly into the Atlantic, making it attractive for a straightforward swim when conditions are suitable. It is also a pleasant place to sit and watch boats or to break a walk around Corrubedo. The compact beach changes noticeably with the tide, and summer use can make it feel lively.

O Prado is a fine-sand beach at Corrubedo in the municipality of Ribeira. Around 300 metres long, it forms a small bay close to the village and is more settled than the great natural-park beaches farther along the coast. White sand, nearby buildings and regular boat anchoring give it a village-shore character, while its position near Cabo Corrubedo keeps the wider Atlantic landscape clearly in view.

Corrubedo village provides the immediate focus, with its harbour, compact streets and long relationship with fishing. The lighthouse on Cabo Corrubedo is the strongest nearby landmark and helps place the beach at a turning point on the Galician coast. Visitors can continue towards the natural park, where the huge dune, coastal lagoons and longer beaches create a very different experience from this smaller village bay.

The beach sits where built shoreline and open coast meet. Fine sand curves between rocky edges, with boats sometimes visible on the water and the headland extending beyond. Light changes quickly here: a bright morning can make the bay appear gentle, while cloud and wind bring a more Atlantic mood. O Prado is particularly useful for travellers who want the character of Corrubedo without committing to a long walk across the larger natural beaches. Everything feels close at hand, yet the bay still holds a clear view of the open coast and changing weather. The compact setting makes every change in tide easy to notice from the village.
