About Playa de la Punta del Guineu

The Vibe

The beach is attractive, naturally sheltered and easy to combine with a walk through the Roc, so it can fill quickly in summer. Its limited length creates an intimate atmosphere when quiet and a more sociable one when busy. Visitors seeking more space may be better served by Platja Llarga or Platja Costa Daurada, while this cove suits a shorter swim and a scenic stop.

The Setting

About

Punta d'en Guineu is the small beach at the southern edge of Roc de Sant Gaieta in Roda de Bera. It is also known as the Caleta del Roc Sant Gaieta, a name that reflects its close relationship with the seafront enclave above.

The Local Anchor

Roc de Sant Gaieta provides the unmistakable backdrop. Built during the twentieth century, it combines arcades, courtyards, towers and details inspired by different Spanish and Mediterranean traditions. The result is picturesque rather than ancient, and its lanes open repeatedly towards sea views. The cove sits directly below this architecture, while the coastal route continues towards La Pallisseta and the marina. This makes Punta d'en Guineu one of the municipality's most visually distinctive beaches, anchored by a place designed to celebrate coastal form and craft.

The Landscape

The beach occupies about 140 metres of fine golden sand and averages only around a dozen metres in width. Rocky margins and the headland give the water a protected appearance, and the cove is often calmer than the exposed long beaches nearby. A public nautical channel is part of the beach layout, so swimmers must keep clear of marked access used by small craft. Space on the sand can reduce after storms or during periods of high water, and the rocky sides require care. The combination of narrow beach, clear water and built stonework above creates a compact, almost theatrical scene. Punta d'en Guineu should not be confused with La Pallisseta on the other side of the Roc: this is the smaller southern cove, closely framed by rock and architecture.
