About Playa de Terramar
The mood is relaxed and refined rather than lively. Families, local residents and visitors staying in the southern hotels use the beach, but the greater distance from the centre usually leaves more breathing room. The artificial islets help define the waterline and give the bay a distinctive sheltered appearance.
Terramar suits an unhurried beach day, with enough length for walking and enough separation from central Sitges to feel calmer. Seasonal services make it practical, while the promenade remains popular for cycling and evening walks. Even with the islets, wind and sea state can change, so swimmers should follow the flags.

The Setting
Terramar lies at the quieter southern end of Sitges' urban seafront, directly in front of the residential Terramar district. It is a long, family-oriented beach with four artificial islets offshore, a broad promenade and a more spacious atmosphere than the central old-town beaches.
The Terramar neighbourhood is the immediate anchor. Its early twentieth-century garden-city layout, detached villas and mature greenery give this part of Sitges a different character from the dense streets around La Ribera.
Nearby, the historic Terramar gardens and the former seafront hotel district reflect the town's development as an elegant Mediterranean resort. Walking east along Passeig Maritim links the beach with La Barra, Riera Xica and the centre, while the western end approaches Les Anquines.
Terramar is approximately 395 metres long and divided from neighbouring beaches by breakwaters. The four low artificial islets create a recognisable pattern offshore and can soften smaller waves, although they do not guarantee flat water.
The sand is broad and the built backdrop sits behind a generous promenade, so the beach feels open despite its urban location. Low-rise homes, palms and gardens dominate the landward view rather than dense apartment blocks.
Morning light brings out the pale sand and calm geometry of the islets. Later in the day, the long promenade and residential setting create a quieter rhythm than central Sitges. Terramar's identity comes from this combination of space, garden-suburb character and a carefully shaped Mediterranean shoreline.
