Playa Dels Balmins

Balmins is open, relaxed and inclusive. It is one of Sitges' established clothing-optional beaches and has long been popular with the LGBTQ+ community, although families, couples and regular swimmers also use it. The three-cove layout helps the beach feel varied, with different pockets of sand rather than one continuous strip.

The atmosphere is sociable without needing loud entertainment. A beach restaurant and seasonal services add convenience, but the strongest impression is the mix of people and the feeling that everyone can settle comfortably. The coves can fill quickly in high summer, so arriving earlier gives more choice near the water.

Balmins is a compact Sitges beach formed by three small coves between the old town and Port d'Aiguadolc. Its sheltered outline, light sand and clear views back towards the church and waterfront give it a more intimate character than the long urban beaches farther south.

Sitges' old town is the natural anchor. From the beach, the Church of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla rises above the seafront, while the narrow streets, museums and restaurants around the historic centre are an easy walk away.

In the opposite direction, Port d'Aiguadolc brings boats, marina terraces and the start of the rocky coast towards the Garraf. Balmins therefore sits between two very different sides of Sitges: the postcard old town and the modern harbour.

The beach is around 240 metres long but feels smaller because rocky divisions break it into three inlets. Low cliffs and planted slopes frame the shore, and the curved coves can reduce direct exposure compared with the broad open beaches along Passeig Maritim.

The water may look calm, but wind, swell and the rocky margins still require attention. At lower water, more of the connecting sand and stone becomes visible; at higher water, each cove feels tighter. The best views come from the paths above, where the full shape of Balmins, the marina and the Sitges skyline can be seen together.
