Playa o Bornal-o Fucino do Porco

Bornal feels lived-in and sociable rather than remote. Residents, families and visitors staying around As Sinas use the beach for bathing when conditions suit, sitting near the water and walking along the narrow strand. Its length allows some separation, although rocky patches and the tide influence where people settle.

The water often looks gentler than on the outer Atlantic coast, but the ria is still active. Wind can create chop, boats pass offshore and the depth changes across the intertidal zone. The mixed sand-and-rock surface also rewards sensible footwear when exploring the edges.

Bornal is a long, narrow beach on the As Sinas side of Vilanova de Arousa. Golden sand is mixed with rocky sections along roughly 400 metres of sheltered ria shoreline. The beach sits close to houses and local roads, giving it a semiurban character while retaining wide views across the Ria de Arousa.

As Sinas is the immediate anchor, a coastal settlement with places to eat, accommodation and a strong connection to Vilanova's maritime life. The main town lies a short distance away, with its harbour and the Casa-Museo Valle-Inclan.

Food is naturally linked to the estuary. Mussels, clams and other shellfish are central to the local economy and appear throughout the area's kitchens. Visitors can see the floating mussel platforms spread across the ria from many points along the beach.

Bornal is approximately 400 metres long, with golden sand, rock and generally calm-looking water. The shoreline is relatively narrow and closely backed by settlement, so it does not have the open dune system of a wild Atlantic beach.

Its landscape is instead defined by the wide estuary, low opposite shores and working aquaculture. At low tide, more rock and intertidal ground emerge; at high tide, the beach becomes slimmer and more continuous with the water's edge.

The view changes with light and weather. Clear afternoons open the full breadth of the ria, while mist and low cloud make the island and distant coast appear layered and close. Bornal's appeal lies in that everyday estuary panorama.
