About Playa o Terron
The beach has a relaxed, accessible atmosphere. A pedestrian and cycle walkway links it with Vilanova, so it is possible to reach the sand without treating the visit as a separate excursion. Summer brings families and regular beachgoers, but the length of the shore helps spread activity.
O Terron is particularly good for walking. The long waterline, gentle estuary views and connection to town create an easy coastal route even outside the main bathing season. The water is sheltered from direct Atlantic swell, although tide, wind and local boat traffic still affect conditions.

The Setting
O Terron is Vilanova de Arousa's best-known long beach, stretching along the ria just beyond the town and port. Fine golden sand, peaceful-looking water and a wooded backdrop make it an easy choice for families, walkers and visitors who want more room than the municipality's smaller coves provide.
Vilanova de Arousa is immediately beside the beach. Its fishing port, shellfish tradition and compact centre give O Terron a strong local context. The Casa-Museo Valle-Inclan is one of the town's main cultural landmarks, while the waterfront shows the modern working relationship with the ria.
The route towards the beach also reveals the municipality's everyday scale: harbour edges, paths, pine shade and open water rather than a wall of resort buildings.
O Terron forms a long sandy arc facing A Illa de Arousa. Local visitor information describes the wider strand as extending for almost three kilometres, although named and monitored sections divide the shoreline.
Fine sand and calm-looking water are the defining features. Pine trees provide a greener edge behind parts of the beach, and the broad view includes the island, mussel rafts and small craft.
Tide strongly alters the width and visual balance of the shore. Lower water creates a broad horizontal foreground, while higher tide brings the ria closer to the walkway and wooded margins. The setting is semiurban but spacious, making O Terron feel connected to Vilanova without losing the open character of the estuary.
