About Cambrils

The Vibe

The atmosphere is active but generally less intense than neighbouring Salou. Families, cyclists and walkers use the long promenade throughout the day, while fishing activity and harbour movements remain visible beside the visitor facilities. Each beach section has a slightly different balance of services, space and shelter, so the coast does not feel completely uniform. Cambrils is a good fit for travellers who want practical beaches, a genuine town and an evening waterfront without relying on nightlife as the main attraction.

Today's Beach Report

Today is Friday, August 28. The day will be very cloudy with a moderate breeze throughout. This morning, temperatures will begin to rise towards the day's peak of 32°C. As the afternoon develops, the cloud cover will persist. Heading into this evening, details about sky conditions and winds are unavailable.

At the beach, expect moderate waves with small, knee-high surf reaching 0.9 meters. Water temperature is 27.7°C, making it comfortable for swimming in regular swimwear. These conditions are suitable for beginner surfers and bodyboarders. Paddleboarders can also enjoy stable conditions. Anyone taking a boat out should note that offshore waters may be rougher, with stronger winds and higher waves possible.

For runners and cyclists this morning, the moderate breeze will make for comfortable conditions under very cloudy skies. The UV index will reach a peak of 6, indicating high UV levels. Use SPF 50+ sunscreen and reapply every 90 minutes. In the afternoon, the wind remains a moderate breeze, so plan outdoor activities accordingly. Tennis players can expect similar conditions, with the cloud cover providing some relief from the sun.

Tomorrow will be cooler than today, with overcast skies and a gentle southeast wind. The day after will be partly cloudy and slightly cooler still.

The Setting

About

Cambrils is a Costa Daurada town with a working fishing port, a sports marina and a chain of sandy beaches extending along a low Mediterranean shore. The waterfront is closely linked to the town rather than separated into an isolated resort zone, allowing visitors to move easily between the harbour, promenade and different beaches. Its maritime economy and strong food culture give Cambrils a more settled local identity than many purpose-built holiday centres.

The Local Anchor

The port is divided between the marina and the fishing harbour, making it the clearest expression of Cambrils' relationship with the sea. The Torre del Port stands near the waterfront and recalls the need to watch the coast, while the fishing fleet supports the town's continuing reputation for seafood and rice dishes. Inland streets and markets connect the tourist frontage with daily local life. The harbour therefore functions as both a working place and the centre of the visitor experience.

The Landscape

Long sandy beaches follow a flat coast broken by groynes, harbour walls and planted promenades. The waterline is generally open and easy to reach, with fewer cliffs or steep approaches than on many Spanish coasts. Some sections contain coarser sand or rocky seabed near the port, while others offer wider uninterrupted shore. Mediterranean storms and easterly winds can create more movement than the calm summer image suggests. Conditions should be judged at the chosen beach, because harbour structures and shoreline orientation can produce local differences.
