About Playa Zona de Banys Fnrum
The atmosphere is calmer and more functional than on Barcelona's sandy beaches. Swimmers, local residents and visitors who prefer firm surfaces use the platform, while people sunbathe on the concrete edges and terraces. It can feel spacious on ordinary weekdays, though events at the Forum may change access and crowd levels.
This is not suitable for anyone expecting shallow water or a gentle sandy entry. The water becomes deep quickly, access is by steps or adapted equipment, and waves can affect the outer edge. Visitors should use the supervised area, follow posted rules and never dive without checking depth and conditions.

The Setting
Zona de Banys del Forum is Barcelona's sand-free bathing area beside Parc del Forum. Instead of a conventional beach, it provides a paved platform, steps and assisted access directly into a protected section of seawater. The design makes it one of the city's most distinctive places for an urban swim.
Parc del Forum is the anchor, a large contemporary public space created for the 2004 Universal Forum of Cultures. Its angular architecture, broad plazas and event venues give the area a very different identity from historic Barcelona.
Diagonal Mar and the Besos i el Maresme district sit behind the waterfront, with metro and tram connections nearby. The area also links naturally with Llevant beach and the long promenade towards Poblenou.
The bathing zone is around 375 metres long and enclosed by engineered sea walls. There is no sand, dune or natural cove; the landscape is made from concrete, open water and the large-scale architecture of the Forum.
The sea remains fully present despite the urban design. Wind moves across the exposed platform, light reflects sharply from the water and the horizon opens beyond the breakwaters. The paved surroundings make the site accessible for wheelchairs and visitors who find sand difficult, with seasonal assisted bathing facilities.
Forum works best when understood on its own terms. It is not a substitute for Barceloneta, but a purpose-built city swimming space where accessibility, modern architecture and direct contact with the Mediterranean come together.
