Playa los Urrutias

Los Urrutias feels residential, unhurried and strongly connected with village life. Families arrive from nearby streets, regular walkers use the seafront and sailing or paddling activity appears across the broad, shallow water. The beach extends for more than a kilometre, allowing different sections to develop their own pace.

The Mar Menor shore is gently shelving, with limited wave action compared with the open Mediterranean. Wind remains important and can quickly change the surface of the lagoon. Visitors should follow current local information and use the sections where seasonal services and maintained access are provided.

Playa Los Urrutias follows a long settled shoreline on the southwestern side of the Mar Menor. Its golden sand, shallow lagoon setting and close relationship with the village promenade make it a practical local beach used for bathing, walking and small watercraft.

The village of Los Urrutias is the immediate anchor, with homes, cafes, a yacht club and small piers closely integrated with the waterfront. The settlement has long functioned as a local holiday and sailing base rather than a large hotel resort.

Punta Brava and El Carmoli lie west and north along the lagoon, while Los Nietos sits farther south. Across the water, the long line of La Manga forms the distant eastern horizon.

A narrow golden shore runs beside promenade paving, low houses, palms and small jetties. The land is flat, and the lagoon stretches across a wide, almost enclosed horizon.

Reed beds and shallow-water vegetation appear around quieter edges, while low hills rise behind parts of the western Mar Menor. Boats and mooring structures create local visual interest without forming a large marina. Los Urrutias is defined by lagoon geography: village, shallow water and distant La Manga sharing one long, low waterfront. Long views across the lagoon are especially striking near sunset, when the flat water and distant La Manga skyline catch the western light. The promenade is also suitable for gentle cycling.
