About Playa de la Bassa d'Arena
The beach is divided by use as well as distance. The southern section beside Riumar includes a dog-friendly area, fishing and surfcasting take place along designated stretches, and the far northern end has an established naturist character. Visitors should therefore read local signs and choose the section that suits their plans rather than treating the entire three-kilometre shore as identical.
Space and wind shape the day. Long walks feel natural here, but heat, loose sand and the lack of continuous shade make preparation important. The sea can change quickly on this open coast, and swimmers should follow flags and avoid entering near fishing lines or active sport areas.

The Setting
Platja de la Bassa d'Arena is a long natural beach in Deltebre, continuing north from the Riumar shoreline towards La Marquesa. Fine sand, dunes and a largely undeveloped backdrop give it one of the broadest and least urban experiences on the Ebro Delta coast.
Riumar is the nearest settlement and provides the practical link between the beach and the Ebro mouth. Its low houses, restaurants and access roads contrast with the much emptier coast immediately to the north. Deltebre lies farther inland across rice-growing land and channels connected with the river.
The beach's pet area is a distinctive local feature, but responsibility remains with owners: dogs must be controlled, waste collected and any current municipal rules followed. The same respect applies to naturist users, anglers and wildlife, all of whom share a shoreline with limited formal separation.
Bassa d'Arena runs for roughly three kilometres and is backed by low dunes rather than a built promenade. The sand forms a continuous visual line between Riumar and La Marquesa, with the flat delta allowing sky and sea to dominate every view.
Birds move between the shore, wetlands and river environment, while wind continually alters small ridges and footprints. The landscape may look empty, but it is ecologically active and easily damaged. Boarded or marked approaches should be used, vehicles kept to permitted areas and dune plants left untouched.
