About Playa del Bon Nou
The cove feels relaxed and sociable rather than remote. Families, swimmers and visitors using the seasonal beach bar share a shore that is small enough for everything to remain close. Summer days can become busy, but the enclosing rock and modest development preserve a distinct sense of place.
Pebbles and stones are part of the bathing experience, and footwear can improve comfort. The headlands may reduce some exposure without guaranteeing calm water, so flags and local advice should guide swimming. Rocky edges can interest snorkellers in settled conditions, but they also require caution.

The Setting
Playa del Bon Nou is a sheltered mixed sand-and-pebble cove south of La Vila Joiosa, positioned between Paradis and L'Esparrello. Low rocky headlands, clear-looking water and a compact shoreline give it a more enclosed character than the long beaches nearby.
Bon Nou belongs to the southern beach sequence of La Vila Joiosa. The historic town, fishing port and coloured houses lie to the north, while Paradis, L'Esparrello and La Caleta provide nearby alternatives with different shore types and levels of service.
La Vila's food culture is closely connected with fishing and rice dishes, while its chocolate industry gives the town a second, nationally recognised tradition. Those identities belong to the wider municipality rather than to a single beach bar, but they make a visit here easy to combine with a more cultural town stop.
A short pale shore lies between ochre-grey rocky points and vegetated slopes. The mixture of sand, pebbles and exposed stone creates visual texture, while the cove opens directly to the Mediterranean beyond its protective-looking sides.
Bon Nou's appeal is the balance between enclosure and accessibility. It feels more intimate than Paradis without the more discreet naturist character of L'Esparrello. From the waterline, the defining view is simple: a compact beach, low headlands, hillside development set above and blue water framed by rock. The small bay is particularly attractive in softer morning light, before vehicles and beach activity become more noticeable above the cove.
