Playa Punta del Moro

The beach has a local, lightly developed atmosphere. Residents use it for short swims, fishing and evening walks, while summer events occasionally bring more activity to the seafront. It does not have the broad, uniform sand or constant movement of the main urban beach, making it better suited to visitors comfortable with a smaller and more varied shore.

Rocky projections divide parts of the waterline and require attention when entering. Calm conditions may suit careful snorkelling close to shore, but swell and slippery stone can quickly change the experience. Space is limited, and natural shade should not be expected.

Puntes del Moro is a small urban-edge beach area immediately south of central La Vila Joiosa, close to the mouth of the River Amadorio and the Avenida de Altea district. Its mixture of sand, pebbles and low rocky points gives it a more broken shoreline than the long Playa Centro nearby.

The strongest anchor is La Vila Joiosa itself. The coloured houses of the old waterfront stand north of the river, reflecting the town's long fishing history, while the port and chocolate-making tradition add further layers to local identity.

Puntes del Moro also sits beside a lived-in part of town rather than an isolated coastal road. This makes it easy to combine with local restaurants, the historic centre and the riverside approach, while still offering a shoreline distinct from Playa Centro.

The coast here is interrupted by small points of rock, patches of sand and pebble sections. Low development follows the rear of the beach, and the open Mediterranean remains visible beyond the irregular edge. The setting is urban but not dominated by a large promenade.

Its character comes from transition. Puntes del Moro marks the movement from La Vila's central sandy frontage towards the smaller southern coves. The beach feels modest, practical and connected to neighbourhood life, with rock and changing shoreline shape providing more visual interest than a single uninterrupted strand.
