Playa Cala Anguila

The atmosphere is relaxed and organised around the cove itself. Families favour the gradual sandy entry, couples settle beneath the rocky sides, and nearby holiday homes bring a steady summer population. Its modest dimensions mean that midday can feel busy, while the first hours of the morning leave more room to appreciate the bay.

The sandy centre is usually the simplest route into the water. Access is direct enough for ordinary beach gear, although nearby parking can tighten considerably in August. Along the edges, rock platforms and submerged ledges create sudden changes underfoot and can rebound small waves into the inlet. Snorkelling is most comfortable before wind disturbs visibility, and jumping from the cliffs is not a sensible shortcut into unfamiliar depth.

Cala Anguila is a fine-sand cove in the Porto Cristo Novo area of Manacor, a few kilometres south of Porto Cristo. Clear-looking shallows, rounded limestone walls and a residential backdrop make it an accessible family beach without the scale of an urban resort strand.

Cala Mendia lies only a short distance south, with S'Estany d'en Mas beyond it. Together, the three coves form a recognisable coastal cluster served by the Porto Cristo Novo and Cala Mendia residential areas, yet each has its own opening and shoreline.

Porto Cristo provides the nearest working harbour, larger shops and year-round town services. The Drach and Hams cave systems are nearby inland attractions, but Cala Anguila's immediate identity remains that of a compact residential cove rather than an excursion centre.

A broad tongue of pale sand sits between gently curving limestone walls. Scrub and scattered pines soften the upper edges, while villas remain visible behind the beach without forming a continuous promenade.

The cove faces east, so morning light reaches the water directly and afternoon shade develops near parts of the rock. Cala Anguila is visually balanced rather than dramatic: sand wide enough for family use, stone high enough to provide enclosure and an open mouth that still reveals the wider Mediterranean.
