Playa sa Coma

The mood is relaxed, organised and generally quieter at night than Cala Millor. Families spread across the wide sand, walkers use the seafront route and hotel guests move easily between pools, cafes and the beach. Peak summer still brings substantial numbers, but the space usually absorbs them better than a narrow cove.

The open eastern aspect means morning calm can give way to wind-driven chop later in the day. Waves sometimes steepen the sandy entry, and inflatables can travel quickly away from shore when the breeze strengthens. The northern end is influenced by rock and the Punta de n'Amer shoreline, while the central section provides the clearest uninterrupted sand.

Sa Coma is a broad sandy beach in Sant Llorenc des Cardassar, positioned between the Punta de n'Amer peninsula and the neighbouring resort of S'Illot. Its generous shoreline, promenade and family-focused accommodation make it one of eastern Mallorca's most straightforward resort beaches.

Punta de n'Amer is Sa Coma's defining neighbour. A walking track crosses the protected peninsula to Castell de sa Punta de n'Amer, a seventeenth-century tower built to watch for attacks along this exposed coast.

Southward, the promenade approaches S'Illot and the bridge near the torrent. The nearby Talayotic settlement of s'Illot contains stone structures from Mallorca's prehistoric culture, giving visitors an archaeological stop within an otherwise modern holiday district.

Sa Coma presents a long curve of pale sand beneath a low urban skyline. The sea horizon is broad, while the dark vegetation of Punta de n'Amer provides a natural boundary at the northern end and distinguishes the beach from a completely continuous resort strip.

The shore is visually simple but spacious: sand, bright water, palms and hotels arranged in clear horizontal bands. Its strongest experience comes from combining the beach with the peninsula walk, where the built coast falls away and wider views reveal how Sa Coma sits between protected scrubland and the developed bay around S'Illot. The route is especially pleasant outside midday heat.
