About Playa de Les Deveses

The Vibe

The beach feels spacious and less urban than Pau Pi, with families, long-stay visitors and water-sport enthusiasts sharing different sections of the shore. Summer beach bars add sociability, but the long waterline allows quieter areas away from the principal entrances. The southern position also gives the beach a stronger sense of distance from central Oliva.

The Garbi wind can strengthen during the day and is one reason the area is used for sailing sports. Swimmers should pay close attention to flags, marked launch zones and changing waves. Dunes should be crossed only on established paths, and anyone planning a long visit should bring protection from both sun and wind.

The Setting

About

Les Deveses is Oliva's southernmost beach, meeting the municipal boundary with Denia along a broad, dune-backed Mediterranean shore. Fine golden sand, open exposure and regular coastal wind make it both a natural-looking beach and one of the area's recognised sailing and board-sport locations.

The Local Anchor

Les Deveses marks the transition from Oliva into Denia's northern coastal plain. The boundary is administrative rather than visually dramatic, because the sandy shore continues south while inland fields, holiday development and drainage channels form a shared landscape.

The Marjal de Pego-Oliva Natural Park lies inland from the southern Oliva coast. Its high-quality spring water, rivers and wetland habitats provide important ecological context, although the protected marsh is not directly on the beach. Oliva's old town and marina remain farther north.

The Landscape

The beach is long, open and backed by low dunes. Its width can change with storms and seasonal sand movement, while the uninterrupted horizon gives wind and weather a strong presence.

There are no cliffs or rocky coves to provide shelter. Instead, Les Deveses is defined by scale: pale sand, dune ridges, open sea and the flat coastal plain towards the wetland. On calm mornings it can feel serene and expansive; when the wind rises, the same exposure creates a more energetic landscape suited to experienced water-sport users operating within designated areas.
