Playa Des Marquns

This is an easy neighbourhood beach rather than a remote escape. Guests from nearby accommodation, residents and walkers use it for short swims, sunbathing and evening views, while the limited length keeps the mood more intimate than on Es Trenc.

Space can disappear quickly in high summer, especially when the tide line narrows the usable sand. The rocky margins make an interesting frame in settled weather but become awkward when waves arrive. Anyone entering near those edges should expect submerged stone rather than a completely smooth sandy bottom.

Playa des Marques is a small sandy section on the western side of Colonia de Sant Jordi, close to the point where the resort frontage begins to open towards Es Trenc. Rock at either end and a developed edge behind the sand give it a compact identity distinct from the longer natural beaches farther west.

Restaurants, shops and Colonia de Sant Jordi's harbour are all within a comfortable walk. The settlement's history is tied to fishing and the salt flats behind the coast, and the local visitor centre introduces the protected Cabrera archipelago reached by boat from the port.

West of the beach, the coastline leads towards the Es Trenc-Salobrar de Campos Natural Park. Salt pans, wetlands and dune habitats form the wider environmental setting, even though Playa des Marques itself sits beside buildings. This position explains its appeal: urban convenience on one side and a celebrated natural shoreline beginning on the other.

The beach is a short pocket of pale sand between low rock shelves. Clear-looking water often reveals patches of sand and stone beneath the surface, while nearby buildings remain visible without closing the sea horizon.

Its scenery is modest but well balanced. Morning light reaches the open bay, the western coast invites a longer walk, and the salt-flat landscape lies just inland. Playa des Marques should not be confused with Ses Estanques or treated as another name for Es Trenc; it is its own small bathing place at the edge of Colonia de Sant Jordi.
