Butihondo

Butihondo lies on the Jandía coast in southern Fuerteventura, part of the island’s long run of pale beaches where space, wind and Atlantic light dominate the experience.

The Vibe

The atmosphere is spacious, relaxed and resort-adjacent without feeling as dense as the main Morro Jable frontage. Butihondo is the kind of beach that suits long walks, swimming in settled weather and a quieter version of south-coast holiday life.

Hotels and accommodation sit nearby, but the beach still feels open because the shoreline is so wide. Families can enjoy the sand and water when conditions are gentle, while more active visitors appreciate the wind-sport character that belongs to much of the Jandía coast.

The mood is natural and easy, with enough organisation to be comfortable but enough space to keep the horizon feeling clear.

The Local Anchor

The local anchor is the Jandía Peninsula, the long southern landform that gives Fuerteventura many of its most famous beaches. Butihondo sits between Costa Calma and Morro Jable, making it part of the same broad beach system.

The 2026 Blue Flag list includes Butihondo under Pájara, one of four awarded beaches in that municipality.

The Landscape

The landscape is wide, pale and open. Sand stretches along the south-east coast, backed by dry hills, hotel zones and long views toward the Atlantic. The beach can feel almost endless when walking north or south along the shore.
