Costa Calma

Costa Calma is one of southern Fuerteventura’s main resort beaches, set on the northern edge of the Jandía coast with pale sand, hotels and strong wind-sport associations nearby.

The Vibe

The atmosphere is relaxed, sunny and resort-focused. Costa Calma is quieter than some large Spanish beach resorts, but it still has a clear holiday structure: hotels, apartments, shops, restaurants and beach services close to the sand.

Families use the beach for easy days by the water, while windsurfers and kitesurfers are drawn to the wider south-east coast when conditions are right. The mood is practical and outdoorsy rather than nightlife-heavy. It is a place for sun, long beach walks, water sports and simple resort comfort.

Costa Calma suits visitors who want a Blue Flag beach with space and facilities, but without the intensity of a big city beach.

The Local Anchor

The local anchor is the Costa Calma resort area and the wider Sotavento/Jandía coastline. This part of Fuerteventura is strongly associated with wind, long sand and water-sports holidays.

The official 2026 Blue Flag list includes Costa Calma under Pájara, alongside Butihondo, El Matorral and Morro Jable.

The Landscape

The beach has light sand and Atlantic water, with dry hills and resort development behind it. It feels broad and open rather than enclosed. Depending on tide and wind, the coast can move between calm-looking holiday beach and more energetic surf/wind environment.

Costa Calma’s appeal lies in balance: enough services for comfort, enough space for a relaxed day, and enough natural openness to keep Fuerteventura’s wide-island feeling.
