El Matorral

El Matorral is the long beach beside Jandía and Morro Jable, famous for pale sand, a lighthouse, a seafront promenade and the protected salt-marsh landscape behind parts of the shore.

The Vibe

The atmosphere is spacious, organised and family-friendly. El Matorral is a major resort beach, but its scale gives it room to breathe. Visitors can choose hotel-front sections with services, quieter stretches for walking, or active areas where wind and water sports are part of the day.

The beach suits families, couples, long-stay visitors and walkers who want a reliable south-coast base. It can be lively, especially near the promenade and commercial areas, but the long shoreline prevents it from feeling too compressed.

El Matorral is one of Fuerteventura’s most useful all-round beaches: accessible, attractive, long and supported by resort infrastructure.

The Local Anchor

The local anchor is the Jandía lighthouse and the Saladar de Jandía salt marsh. Visit Fuerteventura describes Morro Jable’s beach area as four kilometres of tourist beach beside the Jandía salt marsh, with shops, restaurants, lifeguards, sunbeds, parasols and water-sport areas.

The official 2026 Blue Flag list includes El Matorral under Pájara.

The Landscape

The landscape is generous and coastal-resort in scale: light sand, blue water, lighthouse views, promenade life and the ecological contrast of the salt marsh behind. The beach is open to wind, so live wind and wave conditions matter.

It is both a resort beach and a landscape beach at once.
