El Puertillo

El Puertillo is a small north-coast beach in Arucas, offering a local village shoreline with volcanic character, Atlantic views and a quieter rhythm than Gran Canaria’s southern resorts.

The Vibe

The atmosphere is relaxed, local and family-friendly. El Puertillo is not a major tourist beach, and that is part of its charm. It works as a community bathing place, with simple services, places to eat nearby and a more everyday Canarian coastal feel.

The beach is useful for visitors exploring the north coast who want a managed Blue Flag spot without the scale of Playa del Inglés or Maspalomas. Families and local swimmers use it when conditions are good, while walkers can connect it with nearby rocky coast and seafront paths.

The mood is quiet compared with the south, but it is not isolated. It is a lived-in coastal settlement.

The local anchor is the municipality of Arucas and the north-coast bathing culture around Bañaderos and El Puertillo. This area is strongly shaped by local life, volcanic rock and seafood restaurants rather than package-resort infrastructure.

El Puertillo is listed in the official 2026 Blue Flag awards under Arucas, alongside Los Charcones.
