Hoya del Pozo

Hoya del Pozo is a small east-coast beach in Telde, close to La Garita, with a local feel, volcanic edges and a quieter rhythm than the island’s major resorts.

The Vibe

The atmosphere is calm, local and understated. Hoya del Pozo is not a destination built for large-scale tourism. It is a neighbourhood beach, used by residents and visitors who enjoy a smaller, more grounded coastal setting.

The beach works well for a simple swim, a walk along the coast and a break from the busier south. Families may enjoy it when sea conditions are suitable, though the beach’s compact size means it feels more intimate than the wide resort strands.

The mood is practical and local rather than glamorous. It gives Telde a Blue Flag option beyond the better-known La Garita and Melenara.

The Local Anchor

The local anchor is Telde’s east-coast shoreline. Hoya del Pozo sits within a chain of local beaches that includes La Garita, Melenara and Salinetas, all with strong community use and promenade connections.

The official 2026 Blue Flag list names Hoya del Pozo under Telde.

The Landscape

The landscape is compact and volcanic, with dark sand, rocks and Atlantic water. The beach is framed by coastal paths and low urban surroundings rather than hotels.

Hoya del Pozo’s appeal lies in modesty. It is not a showpiece, but it is clean, useful and connected to everyday island life. Live sea state matters here because the east coast can be wind-affected.
