Playa la Cola

La Cola feels open, informal and less developed than Calabardina's main bay. Snorkellers, anglers and visitors seeking a natural beach spread along the shore, while families tend to choose the more accessible sandy sections. The lack of a dense promenade keeps activity modest.

The surface includes sand, gravel and rock, making footwear useful. Clear conditions reveal underwater stone and marine vegetation, although wind and waves can quickly change visibility. Facilities are limited, so visitors should bring water, shade and anything needed for a longer stay.

Playa La Cola lies immediately east of Calabardina along a more natural rocky section of the Aguilas coast. Its long mixed shore, clear water and close relationship with posidonia, rock and low scrub create a quieter setting suited to snorkelling and coastal exploration.

Calabardina provides the nearest village services and the easiest reference for access. The rocky coastline between the two beaches is promoted locally for snorkelling because of its varied seabed and posidonia habitat.

Cabo Cope dominates the wider landscape to the west. The protected headland, dry scrub and marine environment connect La Cola with a much larger natural area extending along the Aguilas coast.

A long, irregular shore of sand, gravel and stone lies below low rocky slopes and Mediterranean scrub. Development is sparse, and the beach has no continuous seafront or major hotel skyline.

Westward, the coast returns towards Calabardina's sandy bay. Eastward, rocky points and smaller coves continue along the exposed shoreline. The water shifts between pale turquoise and deeper blue around submerged rock. La Cola is defined by texture and simplicity: natural shore, clear sea and arid coastal vegetation arranged without the formal structure of an urban beach. The beach's length allows visitors to find separate sandy and rocky sections, each with a different feel underfoot. Posidonia leaves may appear naturally on the shore and form part of the functioning Mediterranean coastal ecosystem. The natural setting rewards a slower visit and careful exploration.
