About Playa de Casablanca
Casablanca feels relaxed and community-led. Families gather near the easiest access points, walkers use the promenade, and regular visitors settle into familiar summer routines without the intensity of a major holiday strip. The shore has room to spread out, although the most sheltered sections naturally become busier when the sea is calm.
The beach faces open water, so conditions can change with wind and swell. Rounded stones may make footwear useful, and swimmers should follow flags and lifeguard advice rather than assuming the breakwaters guarantee gentle water everywhere. The broad, exposed shore also receives strong sun, making shade and drinking water important for a full day.

The Setting
Playa Casablanca is Almenara's Mediterranean beach, a long open shoreline where coarse sand, rounded stones and protective breakwaters shape a practical local bathing area. The seafront is separate from the historic inland town, giving visitors a straightforward beach setting with wide views and a quieter rhythm than the larger resorts farther north.
Almenara lies a short distance inland beneath the remains of its castle and watchtowers, including the Bivalcadim tower on the ridge. The coastal neighbourhood has its own summer life, with a tourist office, seasonal events and an accessible bathing point near the seafront.
Behind the coast, the Marjal d'Almenara wetland landscape introduces a very different environment of reeds, channels and farmland. It is an important reminder that this section of shore sits between Mediterranean water and a low-lying natural plain rather than against a heavily built urban centre.
Casablanca is defined by length, openness and the repeated pattern of stone groynes extending into the sea. These structures divide the shore into smaller visual sections and can create calmer pockets, while also producing changing currents around their ends.
The beach surface varies between coarse sand and smooth gravel, with a low promenade and modest development behind it. Inland views are framed by the flat coastal plain and the hills around Almenara. The result is a beach that feels functional and spacious rather than theatrical: a place for swimming when conditions allow, steady walks beside the water and an easy connection with the landscape of southern Castellon.
