About Playa de Les Cases
Les Cases feels compact, friendly and strongly local. Families value the protected shape and manageable scale, while regular summer residents gather beneath the pines or along the promenade. Because the sandy section is relatively small, it can become busy, but the northern gravel area offers a different shoreline experience.
The breakwaters reduce some wave exposure without removing every risk. Swimmers should still follow flags and lifeguard guidance, particularly near the ends of the rock structures where currents can behave differently. The shallow profile suits cautious paddling when conditions are suitable, and suitable footwear helps on the gravel section.

The Setting
Platja de Les Cases is the northern urban beach of Xilxes, a small sheltered curve of sand beside the municipality's seaside neighbourhood. Breakwaters, shallow water and a pine-shaded area behind the shore give it an intimate family character distinct from the more open El Cerezo beach to the south.
The pine area behind the beach preserves traces of gardens that once belonged to old first-line seaside houses. Its shade is used for cultural and sporting activities, giving Les Cases a community space that extends beyond the sand itself.
Xilxes village lies inland across the flat coastal plain, while the seaside district follows the promenade between Les Cases and El Cerezo. This separation between historic town and summer waterfront is typical of several municipalities along southern Castellon.
The sandy beach forms a small shell protected by a breakwater, with a wider gravel section continuing north towards Moncofa. Pines, low buildings and the promenade create a contained rear edge, while the sea remains open ahead.
A marked natural area protects native coastal plants, including sea lilies, and provides nesting habitat for shore birds. Visitors should respect fencing and avoid crossing sensitive ground. The landscape combines several elements within a short distance: sheltered sand, rounded stones, planted shade and a surviving pocket of coastal habitat. That variety, rather than dramatic cliffs or great length, is what makes Les Cases memorable.
