About Playa Arneles
Arneles feels settled, calm and closely connected to the surrounding community. The broad curve gives people room to choose between a livelier central stretch and quieter edges, depending on the tide and the time of day. On suitable days the sheltered water encourages paddling, floating and slow swims rather than wave-focused activity. The mood is understated: conversations carry across the sand, boats sit in the wider inlet and the green slopes around the ria keep the beach visually enclosed.

The Setting
Arneles is a long, sheltered beach near O Igrexario in the O Hio parish of Cangas de Morrazo. Its fine sand extends for about 500 metres near the inner part of the Ria de Aldan, where the water is typically gentler than on the exposed outer coast. The beach has enough length for a proper walk while retaining the intimate atmosphere of the ria, making it suitable for families, casual swimmers and visitors who prefer a peaceful shoreline over a busy resort setting.
The nearby parish centre of Hio adds a strong cultural stop to a beach visit. Its churchyard is home to the famous stone cross of Hio, richly carved and widely regarded as one of Galicia's outstanding traditional crosses. Aldan is also close, with a harbour and waterfront that reflect the ria's maritime life. Together, these places give visitors an easy way to combine sand and swimming with a short look at local architecture, village lanes and the working coast.
The beach occupies a gentle indentation backed by a mixture of vegetation, homes and low coastal slopes. Fine sand meets calm-looking water, while the opposite shore of the ria remains part of the view rather than disappearing beyond the horizon. The setting is green and layered, with granite, woodland and settlement interwoven around the inlet. Arneles is less about dramatic cliffs or powerful surf and more about proportion: a generous beach, a protected sheet of water and a landscape shaped by the narrow reach of the Ria de Aldan.
