About Playa Canaval
The character is quiet, residential and unhurried. Canabal is used largely by people who know this section of the Morrazo coast, and it feels more like a local refuge than a destination built around tourism. Families and regular swimmers appreciate the protected position, while walkers use the shoreline as part of the coastal route linking Tiran with neighbouring coves.
The beach's length allows visitors to spread out, although the tide determines how generous the sand feels. It is best approached with simple expectations: bring what you need, watch the water conditions and enjoy the broad view across the ria.

The Setting
Canabal is a fine-sand beach at the western edge of Moana, close to the boundary with Cangas and within the sheltered waters of the Ria de Vigo. It forms a calm-looking strip below the coastal neighbourhoods of Tiran.
Tiran is the immediate anchor. The parish occupies the coast between central Moana and Cangas and has strong associations with rowing, fishing and life on the estuary. Its coastal church, small harbour areas and tightly settled lanes give the district a distinctive identity.
Cangas lies close to the west, while Moana's main waterfront and ferry connections are to the east. Its border position connects it naturally with both towns.
Canabal extends for roughly 300 metres and is classed as a sheltered beach with fine sand. The shore faces south across the Ria de Vigo, with the city of Vigo and the layered hills beyond forming the distant backdrop.
Low headlands and rocks define the beach, while houses and vegetation rise behind it. The ria setting reduces direct ocean swell, but wind can still travel along the water and create choppy conditions. Boat traffic is also part of the wider scene.
At low tide, the exposed strand becomes broader and invites a longer walk. Higher water can narrow the beach, especially near the ends. The landscape is not wild, yet it remains strongly maritime: sand, granite, small craft and the wide estuary view are all present without the visual separation of a formal resort promenade.
