Playa a Ribeira - Moana

The beach feels calm, friendly and uncomplicated. Families and residents use it for short bathing visits, while walkers discover it as part of the shoreline between central Moana and the Cangas boundary. The protected position usually gives the water a gentler appearance than the open Atlantic.

Da Mona suits visitors who do not need extensive sand. At around 60 metres long, it fills more quickly than neighbouring Praia de Tiran. The atmosphere is therefore shaped by timing: early or outside peak summer hours it can feel especially peaceful, while sunny afternoons bring a more sociable local scene.

Da Mona is a compact fine-sand beach in Tiran, on the western side of Moana. It lies beside Praia de Tiran, also known as A Videira, and faces the sheltered waters of the Ria de Vigo. Its small scale and semiurban setting give it the character of a local cove.

Tiran provides the strongest sense of place. The parish has a long relationship with rowing and the ria, reflected in its boats, clubs and waterfront traditions. The church of San Xoan de Tiran stands close to the coast and forms a familiar landmark above the water.

Central Moana lies to the east, with its harbour, market and ferry connection to Vigo. Cangas is close to the west. Da Mona sits between these larger centres but remains rooted in the quieter residential shoreline of Tiran.

The beach is about 60 metres long and 18 metres wide, with pale fine sand and normally sheltered bathing conditions. Low rocky edges help define the cove, while houses and greenery rise behind it.

Across the ria, Vigo and the surrounding hills create a broad urban horizon. Small craft and mussel-farming platforms are often visible on the water, reinforcing the maritime character of the estuary.

Tide changes the usable space considerably. At low water, the beach connects more naturally with the neighbouring shore; at high water, the dry sand becomes limited. The result is a modest but appealing setting: a small crescent of sand, gentle estuary views and Tiran's everyday coastal life close at hand.
