About Playa a Xunqueira
The beach feels sociable and rooted in everyday life. Families, walkers, runners and local residents use the shore throughout the day, while summer brings a fuller beach atmosphere. It is spacious enough to absorb activity, yet the setting never feels detached from the town.
A Xunqueira is particularly attractive for a shoreline walk. The flat profile and long sweep of sand make distance easy to judge, and the view across the ria remains open. The water is generally less forceful than on the Atlantic coast, but tides and local wind still shape the bathing experience.

The Setting
A Xunqueira is Moana's broad urban beach, extending along the central waterfront beside the town. Fine sand, easy access and a long tidal margin make it one of the municipality's most practical beaches, especially for visitors who want to combine time by the water with shops, cafes and a walk through the centre.
Central Moana is the anchor. The fishing port, marina, market area and ferry connection to Vigo all reinforce the town's close relationship with the ria. Seafood, shellfish farming and rowing are not decorative themes here; they are visible parts of local life.
The waterfront also links A Xunqueira with O Con and the beaches towards Tiran. This makes it easy to understand Moana as a sequence of neighbourhood shores rather than a single resort strip.
A Xunqueira runs for around 600 metres and has fine sand. It lies in an urban setting and is classed as an open beach, although its position inside the Ria de Vigo limits direct Atlantic exposure.
The tide is one of the defining features. Lower water reveals a broad, gently shelving expanse, while higher water brings the shoreline much closer to the back of the beach. The shallow-looking intertidal zone gives the landscape a wide horizontal scale.
Across the water, Vigo forms the distant city backdrop, framed by the hills around the estuary. Closer at hand, trees, paths and town buildings line the shore. The result is a beach that feels distinctly Galician and urban at the same time: an active civic waterfront where the natural rhythm of the ria remains impossible to ignore.
