Playa Cala Blanca

The Vibe

Cala Blanca is a compact cove on the coast south of Ciutadella, named for the pale material of its shore. Its small size creates an intimate setting, though the surrounding urbanisation and nearby accommodation bring a high level of summer use.

The inlet is U-shaped, with calm water and a gently shelving beach between low rocky sides. Houses and tourist buildings sit above the cove, so this is not a secluded Menorcan cala. Its character comes instead from proportion: a short white-sand beach, close-set cliffs and a narrow view towards open water.

The Local Anchor

The most distinctive nearby landmark is below ground. Cova de s’Aigua, close to Cala Blanca, contains stalactites, stalagmites and an interior lake and has been prepared for public visits. The surrounding area also preserves archaeological remains, including the vestiges of a prehistoric naveta dwelling.

These sites connect the modern coastal neighbourhood to the much longer human and geological history of western Menorca. Ciutadella, five kilometres away, remains the main urban and cultural reference, reached by the road continuing south towards Cala en Bosch.

The Landscape

Official tourism information describes a very small sandy slope framed by low rocky cliffs, with a minor dune system behind the beach and pockets of pine nearby. The cove is exposed mainly to western winds but is generally associated with quiet water and a gentle incline.

At the left side of the entrance lies the Illot de Cala Blanca, a small islet that marks the mouth of the bay. Road access is straightforward, with parking in the surrounding streets and a nearby bus stop. The landscape is developed but clearly defined: pale sand, low stone, a compact dune remnant and the islet beyond the cove.
