Playa Cala En Forcat

The mood is active but compact. People settle on terraces, steps and flat rock rather than on a broad sweep of sand, creating a cove where everyone remains close to the water. Families use the easier entry points, while stronger swimmers explore the deeper central channel when the sea is settled.

The narrow geometry deserves respect. Jumping without checking depth is risky, ladders can become slippery, and reflected swell may move through the inlet even when the open horizon appears distant. Snorkellers should avoid drifting into the route used by small boats entering or leaving the cove. Anyone expecting a soft sandy shore may prefer nearby Cala en Blanes.

Cala en Forcat is a narrow rocky inlet on Ciutadella's western holiday coast, shaped more for swimming from platforms than for spreading out on a conventional beach. Turquoise-looking water, limestone walls and easy access from the Los Delfines area make it popular with confident bathers and snorkellers.

The surrounding Los Delfines and Cala en Forcat district provides restaurants, shops and accommodation within walking distance. Ciutadella's old town remains the cultural anchor, with its harbour and historic streets offering a complete change of scene after a few hours on the rock platforms.

Farther along the western coast, Pont d'en Gil forms a natural stone arch above the sea. It is not part of the bathing cove, but it explains the rugged limestone character of this side of Menorca and gives walkers a memorable nearby objective.

Cala en Forcat resembles a flooded limestone corridor. Low walls of pale rock narrow towards the head, where built paths and platforms descend to the water. Vegetation is sparse compared with pine-backed coves, so stone and sea dominate the view.

The inlet's attraction lies below eye level: submerged rock, changing blue tones and small pockets where marine life gathers. It is a place for entering the water rather than admiring a long beach. The cove rewards careful movement, suitable footwear and an understanding that its appeal comes from depth and enclosure, not from sand or solitude.
