Playa del Pinet

The beach feels spacious, with room for walking and quiet sunbathing away from the main entrances. Pines and the wetland horizon shape the atmosphere, while the central houses and restaurants add a modest local focus rather than a continuous promenade. Summer use is noticeable, but the shore rarely feels as urban as Arenales del Sol.

Fine sand is inviting, although this exposed Mediterranean coast can develop waves and currents. Lifeguard flags should always take priority, and the open strand offers little dependable shade once visitors leave the pines. Wooden walkways help protect the dunes and should be used instead of cutting directly through vegetation.

El Pinet is a long golden-sand beach at the southern end of Elche's coastline, beside the salt-marsh landscape of Santa Pola and an extensive belt of dunes and pines. Natural shore and a small group of older seafront buildings give it a character unlike the municipality's resort beaches.

Immediately north lies the Salinas de Santa Pola natural park, a wetland shaped by salt production, lagoons and bird habitat. The El Pinet sector forms part of Elche's relationship with that protected landscape, even though much of the reserve belongs to neighbouring Santa Pola.

A small line of villas built during the mid-twentieth century remains close to the sea and gives the beach an unusual lived-in edge. Restaurants and accommodation around this cluster can be useful, but visitors should not assume that every section has facilities. Elche's urban centre is well inland, so this is a coastal outing rather than a city-beach extension.

El Pinet extends for close to two kilometres along fine golden sand, with dunes and pine woodland continuing south towards Guardamar. Inland, the salt-marsh colours change with water level, light and season, producing a flatter and more expansive backdrop than the rocky coast farther north in Alicante province.

The scene is defined by horizontal layers: sea, sand, dune, pine and wetland. The older beach houses interrupt that sequence in one area without removing the overall sense of nature. It is a landscape best appreciated slowly, especially on a walk that keeps to established paths and leaves the fragile dune plants undisturbed.
