Playa de Llevant

The beach feels busy but manageable. Families, residents and short-stay visitors move between the waterline and the promenade throughout the day, while the central location creates more passing activity than at the natural beaches around the cape. Early morning remains the best time for a quieter walk or swim.

The bay often looks gentle, yet the reliable guide is always the flag system. Harbour traffic, wind shifts and occasional swell can change the surface, and marked channels must remain clear. The sand is broad enough for relaxed sunbathing, but summer occupation rises quickly because so many people can reach the beach without driving.

Playa de Levante is Santa Pola's central urban beach, a compact sweep of dark-golden sand between the harbour area and Calas de Santiago Bernabeu. Its position beside the town centre makes it one of the easiest local beaches to combine with restaurants, shops and Santa Pola's historic streets.

The Castillo-Fortaleza is the defining landmark inland. Built as a fortified complex in the sixteenth century, it now anchors Santa Pola's civic and cultural centre beside the Glorieta. The castle, market streets and harbour explain why Levante feels part of the town's daily life rather than a separate holiday enclave.

Santa Pola's fishing fleet and marina lie close to the western end. Visitors can follow the waterfront towards the port, where fish restaurants and maritime activity reflect an economy shaped by the sea long before modern beach tourism.

Levante forms a neat urban curve backed by a promenade and low-rise development. The beach has no dramatic headland, but the port and neighbouring breakwaters create a clear frame, giving the shoreline a more enclosed appearance than the open sands west of town.

The sea view extends across the bay, with Tabarca sometimes visible in clear conditions farther offshore. Behind the beach, streets rise gently towards the castle and central square. The result is a practical, town-facing landscape: sand at the water's edge, harbour movement nearby and Santa Pola's historic core only a short walk away.
