About Playa Cala Bosque
This is one of the coast's more active family beaches. The generous sand supports swimming, beach games and water-based activities while leaving enough separation between different users. Summer brings a busy, upbeat atmosphere around the main entrances, whereas mornings are better for a quieter walk beside the water before the surrounding neighbourhood becomes active.
The open mouth of the bay means waves can develop despite the curved shoreline. Flags, marked activity zones and lifeguard instructions should guide swimming. Families benefit from the broad beach, but children still need close supervision when surf reaches the shore.

The Setting
Cala Bosque is the main sandy beach at La Zenia, a broad urban bay on Orihuela Costa with fine pale sand and room for organised activity. It should not be confused with the narrower Cala Cerrada immediately to the north.
La Zenia's residential and commercial district sits directly behind the beach, placing restaurants and other services within an easy walk. The beach has also become associated with large sand-sport events, reflecting the amount of level space available compared with Orihuela's smaller coves.
The coastal route links Cala Bosque with Cala Cerrada and Cala Capitan, creating a varied walk through three very different beach shapes. Cala Bosque supplies the broad, practical centre of that sequence, while the neighbouring coves provide more enclosed settings.
The beach extends for roughly 250 metres and opens in a wide curve between rocky ends. Fine sand dominates the foreground, with low cliffs and residential development forming the rear edge. The bay is urban, yet sea and sky remain the strongest elements from the waterline throughout most of the day.
Unlike Cala Cerrada, Cala Bosque is not compressed beneath high rocky walls. Its width creates longer views across the shore and more room for movement. The landscape is therefore defined by openness and use: a large area of pale sand, a gently bending waterline and the busy Mediterranean neighbourhood of La Zenia set behind it.
