About Playa de la Caleta
La Caleta has a settled, family-oriented atmosphere. The beach is large enough for games and relaxed sunbathing, while the bay shape gives the water a gentler appearance than the exposed sections of coast nearby. Summer is sociable and busy, but the long curve allows visitors to move away from the principal entrance and busiest facilities.
Protection from the cape does not remove all risk. Wind direction, swell and boat activity can change conditions, so swimmers should follow flags and remain outside marked navigation areas. The sandy entry is convenient, although occasional stones and shifting wave action still reward a careful and unhurried approach.

The Setting
Playa de la Caleta is the broad sandy beach of Cabo Roig, held beneath the cape's rocky walls and close to its marina. Its sheltered-looking curve and view of the historic watchtower make it one of Orihuela Costa's most distinctive urban beaches.
The sixteenth-century Torre de Cabo Roig stands above the headland and was built as part of the coast's warning system against seaborne attacks. Its round profile remains visible from the sand and gives the beach a historical landmark that is easy to recognise.
Marina Cabo Roig lies close to the headland, linking La Caleta with sailing and harbour activity. The coastal path continues around the cape towards Cala Capitan and the eastern Orihuela beaches, while Campoamor and La Glea lie farther west.
The beach forms a long crescent below reddish rock, planted slopes and low development. The cape closes the view at one end, and the marina introduces masts and harbour structures near the other. This creates a stronger sense of enclosure than the straight beaches of Campoamor.
From the shore, the watchtower, rocky walls and open bay form the main composition. La Caleta is not a natural wilderness, yet the headland still controls the landscape. The beach's identity comes from this balance between broad sand, sheltered water, marina life and a defensive tower looking over the Mediterranean.
