About Playa de Barranco Rubio
The beach suits long walks, unhurried family days and quieter shoreline exercise outside the hottest hours. Its length spreads visitors more effectively than a narrow cove, although the entrances nearest Campoamor's residential areas remain busy in summer. The atmosphere is comfortable and established, with beach activity supported by nearby restaurants, residential streets and the marina.
The shoreline may appear calm during settled weather, but the open bay can receive swell. Flags, lifeguard guidance and marked nautical areas should direct swimming. Anyone walking the full length should also account for sun exposure, because natural shade is limited on the broad sand.

The Setting
Playa de Barranco Rubio is the long western beach of Dehesa de Campoamor, extending from the marina towards Orihuela's Mil Palmeras sector. Fine golden sand, reddish cliffs and a broad waterline make it one of the most spacious beaches on the municipality's coast.
Puerto Deportivo de Campoamor stands at the eastern end and separates Barranco Rubio from Playa de la Glea. Harbour walls, masts and sailing activity provide a clear point of orientation, while the beach becomes progressively quieter away from the port.
Campoamor's residential slopes form the immediate community behind the strand. The wider Orihuela municipality stretches far inland to its historic city and fertile huerta, but Barranco Rubio's local identity is firmly maritime: marina, beach walks and a long holiday shoreline.
The beach runs for more than six hundred metres. Trees and planted slopes give way to golden sand, while reddish cliff tones contrast with the blue Mediterranean. Buildings remain visible above parts of the shore, confirming its urban-residential setting rather than a wild one.
The landscape opens as the beach extends west. The marina creates a hard boundary at one end, while the long curve towards Mil Palmeras feels softer and less enclosed. Barranco Rubio's defining quality is continuity: enough sand for distance, changing cliff colour and a gradual transition from harbour activity to a quieter outer section of Campoamor.
