Playa Mil Palmeras

The Vibe

Orihuela’s section of Mil Palmeras is a broad sandy beach at the southern limit of the municipality, where golden sand and generally calm water meet the neighbouring coast of Pilar de la Horadada.

The atmosphere is open and family-friendly. Although the surrounding area is urbanised and well used in summer, the beach retains a natural quality through its rocky margins and the mouth of the Cañada de Matamoros.

Its width allows room for play, walking and ordinary bathing without the shoreline feeling as compressed as Orihuela’s smaller coves.

The Local Anchor

The local anchor is Campoamor and the southern end of Orihuela Costa.

The Club Náutico de Campoamor lies to the north, while the resort district of Mil Palmeras continues seamlessly across the municipal boundary. The beach therefore belongs to a continuous coastal community even though official services and water-quality records are divided between two municipalities.

Restaurants and seasonal facilities nearby connect the shore with rice dishes, seafood and the international character of the southern Costa Blanca.

The Landscape

Official records identify this Orihuela section as approximately 346 metres long and around 45 metres wide.

Fine golden sand lies at the mouth of the Cañada de Matamoros, the drainage channel marking the boundary with Pilar de la Horadada. Rocky walls frame parts of the beach while the central area remains broad and level.

Services include toilets, foot-washing points, cleaning, loungers, parasols, sports and children’s areas, with accessibility resources nearby.

The CSV municipality has been corrected from Pilar de la Horadada to Orihuela because BWID ES521M099928 belongs to Orihuela’s registered bathing water.

This section’s identity is geographical: one beach shared visually across a boundary, with the rambla quietly dividing two administrations.
