About Playa Calas de Rocamar

The Vibe

Rocamar suits visitors who prefer a small-scale shore and are comfortable moving between separate coves. Couples, local residents and swimmers use the sandy sections, while the rocky points attract people interested in views and careful snorkelling during settled conditions. Space is limited, so the coves can feel busy even when the wider coastline seems quiet.

Rock and uneven approaches require suitable footwear and attention. The water should be judged separately in each cove because exposure and entry points vary. Fishing may take place along parts of the rocky coast, making awareness of other users important.

The Setting

About

Calas de Rocamar is a succession of small coves on the Pilar de la Horadada coast, between the beaches of Los Jesuitas and the Rio-Mil Palmeras sector. Short sandy pockets, low rocky cliffs and a coastal walkway create a quieter setting than the municipality's long open beaches.

The Local Anchor

The Puntal del Gato lies close to the northern end, between Rocamar and Playa de Los Jesuitas, and provides a viewpoint along the shore. A wooden coastal walkway improves the connection through this broken section of coastline.

Torre de la Horadada is the nearby seaside settlement, named for its historic coastal tower. Pilar de la Horadada's larger municipal centre lies inland, while Mil Palmeras and the Rio beach continue north. The coves therefore sit within a linked coastal neighbourhood rather than in isolation.

The Landscape

Rocamar is defined by repetition: small sandy inlets separated by low, weathered rock. The cliffs are modest rather than dramatic, but they create changing angles, sheltered-looking corners and elevated views from the path.

This broken shoreline contrasts with the broad sands of Higuericas or Mil Palmeras. The coves offer less room and fewer uninterrupted walks, yet provide greater visual variety. Their appeal lies in the sequence itself, where rock, sand, coastal planting and Mediterranean water alternate over a short distance and give each bathing pocket a slightly different character. The elevated path also gives non-swimmers a way to appreciate the coast without needing to descend into every inlet.
