About Playa del Crit
This is a beach for walkers and visitors who value quiet surroundings more than easy facilities. Reaching the cove requires a coastal approach, so the atmosphere is usually calmer than at the larger road-access beaches nearby. People come to swim when the sea is settled, rest beneath the cliffs and continue along the cami de ronda.
The cove is small and can feel full quickly. There is little room to move away from the water at higher sea levels, and footwear is useful on the mixed shore and rocky access. Visitors should bring drinking water, carry rubbish away and avoid relying on seasonal services.

The Setting
Cala del Crit is a small, rugged cove on the Mont-ras coast between Palamos and Calella de Palafrugell. Coarse sand, pebbles and rock fill a narrow opening below pine-covered slopes, giving the beach a distinctly natural character with no urban promenade behind it.
The Cap Roig area is the nearest recognisable anchor. Its botanical garden and coastal estate sit above this exceptionally scenic part of the Costa Brava, while Calella de Palafrugell lies to the north and Platja de Castell to the south.
The surrounding municipality of Mont-ras has a quieter rural identity than the better-known resort towns. Pine forest, old tracks and low agricultural land reach close to the coast, helping Cala del Crit retain its sense of separation.
Rocky headlands close the cove on both sides, and dense Mediterranean vegetation covers much of the land above. The beach faces open water, so wind and swell can enter directly despite its narrow shape. On rough days, waves may reach high across the limited shore.
The coastal path is central to the experience. Approaching on foot reveals successive views of cliffs, transparent shallows and offshore rock before the cove appears below. Shade is limited on the beach itself, and midday heat can make the return walk demanding.
Cala del Crit should be treated as a natural stop within a wider coastal route rather than a serviced destination. Its appeal comes from the walk, the rocky setting and the contrast between enclosed land and open Mediterranean horizon.
