About Playa de Cal Cristin-cortal de la Vila
The beach feels spacious, breezy and strongly connected to outdoor activity. Families, walkers, campers, windsurfers and paddlers share a shore broad enough to absorb different uses. The open setting creates far more room than the rocky coves farther north on the Costa Brava.
Wind is central to the experience. Calm mornings may suit relaxed swimming, while thermal breeze and tramuntana can transform the water into a venue for windsurfing, sailing and kite activity. Swimmers must observe buoyed areas, flags and marked sports channels.

The Setting
Cal Cristia-Cortal de la Vila is a long natural beach sector on the open Bay of Roses in Sant Pere Pescador. Fine sand, shallow dunes and a wide undeveloped horizon place it within the protected coastal landscape associated with the Aiguamolls de l'Emporda.
Sant Pere Pescador lies inland beside the River Fluvia, with orchards, flat farmland and a compact historic centre. The road and cycling routes from the village lead through the agricultural plain towards the beach.
The seventeenth-century Cortal de la Vila farmhouse is a local landmark behind the shore. Walking and cycling routes pass both Cal Cristia and Cortal de la Vila, connecting beach, dunes and rural heritage.
The sector consists of fine sand backed by low dunes and protected vegetation. There are no cliffs or large buildings to interrupt the view, and the flat Emporda plain creates an unusually wide meeting of land, sky and sea.
The beach faces east across the Bay of Roses. Wind can move sand across the upper shore, while storms and seasonal weather reshape the dune edge. Visitors should use established paths and avoid trampling fenced vegetation.
This is not a single compact cove but part of a continuous natural shoreline. Its attraction lies in openness, activity and the transition from beach to dune, farmland and wetlands. Cal Cristia-Cortal de la Vila is best for visitors who value space and weather as part of the coastal experience. Sunset often leaves the shore especially quiet.
