About Playa Bonita

The Vibe

Playa Bonita feels intimate, local and lightly visited. Residents from Los Yesos use the beach for swimming, sitting by the water and evening walks, while travellers on the coastal road may stop for a shorter visit. The limited width means everyone remains close to the settlement and access path, giving the beach a compact and familiar scale throughout the day.

The surface is dark and can become stony after rough weather. There is little room for organised activity, and permanent facilities are modest compared with larger village beaches. The water often looks calm in settled conditions, but the narrow shore remains exposed to short Mediterranean waves and seasonal movement of sand and gravel.

The Setting

About Playa Bonita

Playa Bonita is a narrow semi-urban beach beside the small coastal settlement of Los Yesos in Sorvilan municipality. The shore combines dark sand and gravel with roadside access, low housing and a quiet neighbourhood atmosphere beside Los Yesos.

The Local Anchor

Los Yesos provides the immediate local centre. The small settlement occupies one of the few usable strips between the N-340 and the sea, with homes and a simple waterfront close to the beach. Local usage gives Playa Bonita more of a neighbourhood identity than a destination-resort atmosphere.

Sorvilan village lies high inland within the Contraviesa, where vineyards, almonds and figs have long been part of the agricultural landscape. Melicena is the nearest larger coastal settlement for additional food and services.

The Landscape

A slim band of dark sand and gravel lies beneath the road and steep dry slopes. Buildings remain low and limited, while the Mediterranean opens directly south with no substantial headland enclosing the view.

Eastward, the coast leads towards Melicena and Las Canas; westward, La Mamola and the Polopos shoreline approach. Ravines cut through the surrounding mountains and reach the sea within short distances. Playa Bonita's character comes from this compact geography: village, road, steep hillside and narrow beach arranged closely along the water. Evening light reaches directly across the open Mediterranean horizon.
